Colour & Light York 2026

We’re now back from a beautifully crisp, snowy very long weekend at the cottage — freshly cleaned, restocked, and feeling nicely reset. The children are now back at school, but we’re already looking ahead to our next little adventure.

February is firmly in our sights, with a trip to York very much on the cards — especially as Colour & Light York returns in 2026, and in a bigger way than ever before.

This year’s event will see two of York’s most iconic landmarks lit up together, with York Castle Museum and Clifford’s Tower forming a shared backdrop for a beautifully choreographed projection show in the Eye of York. The displays run in short loops throughout the evening, making it easy to drop by, wander, and watch at your own pace.

It’s completely free to enjoy, with no tickets needed, and runs every evening from 4th to 22nd February between 6 and 9pm. A lovely touch for 2026 is the quieter final hour each night, with reduced noise and fewer crowds, plus seating available for anyone who needs it.

After a snowy reset and the return to routine, it feels rather nice to have something so bright to look forward to.
