Sustainability At The Green

As a business we are very conscious of our impact on the environment. We care deeply about our local area and the impact of our actions and purchasing descisions at a global level. We want many more generations to enjoy the absolute beauty that the North York Moors has to offer.

We are committed to reducing our environmental impact wherever we can. At the cottage, we use 100% recycled paper products and unbleached bamboo toilet tissue, and we choose eco-friendly cleaning products whenever possible. We actively avoid single-use plastics and provide guests with environmentally friendly, compostable kitchen sponges and cloths.

Recycling is important to us, and we make it easy for our guests by providing separate facilities for card, paper, plastic, tins, and glass at the property.

As appliances and electrical items need replacing, we aim to purchase high-efficiency models, prioritising A++ energy-rated products wherever available.

We also try to source Fairtrade and Rainforest Alliance–certified goods and love supporting local producers whenever we can.

With so many wonderful walking and cycling routes right on our doorstep, we encourage guests to enjoy environmentally friendly ways of getting around and exploring the local area.

We know there is always more to do. Sustainability is an ongoing journey for us, and we are continually reviewing our practices and looking for ways to improve our offer.
