What’s a ‘good housekeeping bond’?
Our property requires a Good Housekeeping Bond for you to book it through Sykes holiday cottages. The Good Housekeeping Bond is a security bond made between you and us, and is held on a payment card provided, with the understanding that you will take care of and cause no damage to the property rented during your stay.
What days are your ‘changeover days’?
Our main changeover days are either Friday or Monday. We cannot cater for weekend changeovers and so for that reason we do not accept bookings for arrivals or departures on a Saturday or Sunday.
When can I check-in?
We do not expect our guests to ‘check-in’ – arrival is any time after 4pm and you will be able to access the cottage independently via a key code provided.
Departure on the day you leave is by 10am.
Can I book a short break?
Yes, we happily except short breaks, however during ‘peak’ holiday periods eg Easter and Christmas we will require a minimum booking of seven nights.
Can we use the woodburner?
Yes you can - we supply firelighters, matches, kindling and seasoned fire wood. Please only burn wood in the woodburner and not coal or fire blocks. Wood can be bought from Beadlam Farm Shop and many other local businesses.
Is the kitchen Rayburn in use?
No, the kitchen Rayburn is no longer in use and has been decommissioned. The cottage benefits from a new oil fired combi boiler and is centrally heated with radiators throughout.
Do you have Wifi?
We have good wifi coverage within the cottage, please be aware that the village has very little mobile coverage once you leave the cottage.
Can you provide a cot and highchair?
Yes these items area available for use along with window bars for the children’s room. Please let us know when booking and we will ensure they are available. You will be required to erect these items and ensure that you are happy with the item before use with your child/children.
What are you doing as a business to be environmentally friendly or sustainable?
We care very deeply about the environment; being based in the North York Moors National Park it is essential we take reasonable steps to ensure we do not harm the local environment. It is also essential to consider the use of general resources and take responsibility (where practical) for providing the most sustainable solutions within our holiday home.
