One of the best parts of welcoming guests to The Green, Lastingham is discovering new ways to help them make the most of this incredible landscape. So when I came across the new North York Moors Outdoors app, I immediately thought, “That needs to go in the guest guide!”
The app has been developed by the North York Moors National Park and looks like a fantastic resource for anyone planning to explore the area. From what I’ve seen so far, it’s packed with walking routes, cycling trails, points of interest and practical information to help visitors get off the beaten track and discover some of the Moors’ hidden gems.
One feature that particularly caught my eye is the offline mapping. As anyone who has spent time wandering across the North York Moors will know, mobile signal can be a little patchy in places. Being able to download routes and maps before heading out could be a real game changer for visitors wanting to explore with confidence.
The app also offers plenty of inspiration for days out, whether you’re looking for a gentle village stroll, a more challenging hike across the heather-clad moorland, or somewhere new to enjoy a picnic with a view. For guests staying at The Green, Lastingham, that’s exactly the sort of information that can help turn a good holiday into a memorable one.
I’ve already added details of the app to our digital guest guide so visitors can easily find and download it before or during their stay. Anything that makes it easier to enjoy this beautiful corner of Yorkshire is worth sharing.
Of course, I couldn’t recommend it properly without testing it myself. So I’ve downloaded the app and plan to take it for a spin this weekend. Purely in the interests of guest research, you understand! Any excuse for a wander across the Moors, a stop at a village café, and a few photographs along the way.
I’m particularly interested to see how easy the routes are to follow and whether I discover any new walks that I can recommend to future guests.
