Another mad weekend at The Green… but would I have it any other way? Absolutely not!

I left this afternoon knowing The Green is deep cleaned, fully restocked, everything is back in its rightful place and, somehow, I actually feel like I’ve had a holiday - all in less than 48 hours!

Having arrived at about 10.30pm on Friday evening, I promptly set about several loads through the dishwasher. Yes, I had everything out of the kitchen cupboards and gave it a mini refresh too. Because apparently that’s what you do when you arrive late on a Friday night!

Saturday morning we woke to the wonderful chorus of birds and beautiful sunshine. While our children were safely dispatched to the local farm to apparently help deal with 400 sheep, we got stuck into restocking.

Then it was off to Beadlam Grange Farmshop no trip there is complete without the obligatory browse and a wander around Robert & Ruby to see their fantastic autumn displays. I defy you to leave without buying something!

Oh and a quick check on the progress of the The Plough Community Pub. Fadmoor which is looking fabulous with its new windows.

Next stop was Pickering and my usual trip to Birdgate Chocolatiers for some lovely treats for our guests, followed by Rosedale for a browse around Rosedale Abbey Stores and Tearooms, lunch and, I have to say, one of the best slices of cake I’ve had in a very long time.

We were also lucky enough to see the rally cars making their way through the area as part of Trackrod Rally Yorkshire, which certainly added a bit of excitement to the day.

Back to The Green to finish all the jobs, followed by a wonderful meal with friends at The Royal Oak, Gillamoor.

Sunday has been spent tidying the garden, cleaning windows and enjoying a wonderful roast at The Blacksmith's Arms.

And now we’re on the journey home with very full tummies, learning spellings and finishing maths homework ready for school tomorrow.

Slightly mad. Slightly exhausting.

But honestly? I wouldn’t have it any other way!
