Be proud it’s a ‘small’ business!

So at the start of this year, we joined the North York Moors Tourism Network. It was just by chance we found them; I recall I was flailing around the internet wondering how best to publicise ourselves, where to start and what to do.

We felt ‘all at sea’ and really quite alone as a business. So, I emailed the Network and asked if we could join- after just one email back from the wonderful Susan, I already knew I’d been pitching our location wrongly and that we were based in the North York Moors not the North Yorkshire Moors! Oh, the shame!

So here we are, just under four months later, an improved website, a social media presence (who’d have thought!), some great connections forged, a more focused idea of our guests, even enabling us to concentrate on achieving a ‘Walking friendly’ accreditation and becoming a North York Moors Champion… I know, enough of the trumpet blowing but we had no idea about any of these schemes!

I recently wrote in our application to become a NYM ‘Champion’ that our business is a micro business but that does not mean we have a ‘micro scope’ or limit the amount of time and attention we take to make sure that every aspect of what we do is managed to be the best it can be.  We always want to enhance our guests’ experience when staying at the cottage and this never stops.

We truly believe in this, we are proud to be small and we are so excited to support as many other businesses who are in the same position we are in. I see all our offer as special, unique and tailored; we genuinely care about each interaction we have and love working with others to deliver our absolute best.

Thank you, North York Moors Tourism Network, and thank you to all the lovely, kind local businesses that have engaged with us. Just a Facebook like or a follow honestly puts a smile on my face, I love reading our Facebook feed, there is so much great offer, I can see so much hard work and I know that there are others out there- we are part of a community and that makes it all feel worth it.
