“Not just a place to stay; a place to feel at peace.”

That line from a recent review by North East Family Adventures stopped us in our tracks a little bit. Because honestly, that’s exactly what we hoped The Green would become.

A cosy cottage where you can properly switch off for a few days. Slow mornings. Walks straight onto the moors. Board games by the fire. Pub next door. Dogs asleep in the hallway after refusing to admit they’re tired.

We loved reading about their wander around Hutton-le-Hole, Pickering and the village itself — and we’re especially pleased the Westfields Honey, Harebell Soapery treats and Barney & Stan’s Pet Corner dog goody bags all got a mention too. Clearly the dogs approved of their stay as much as the humans did.

We are, however, taking the review’s comments about the missing pizza cutter very seriously. A full investigation is underway...and a new one is on its way.

One thing we hear time and time again is how quickly people relax here. There’s just something about Lastingham that makes you slow down a bit.

And apparently once people visit, they immediately start planning their next trip before they’ve even unpacked at home again, which honestly feels like the nicest compliment we could ask for.
