Simple Pleasures: June- The Longest Day

With the longest day of the year almost upon us, we're looking forward to spending the weekend at The Green.

.

There will be the usual preparations for our next guests-restocking the cupboards, tending the garden, and making sure everything is just as we'd want to find it ourselves. Looking after an old cottage is always a labour of love.

But we'll also make time to enjoy this beautiful corner of the North York Moors.

A walk up the hill to collect fresh eggs for breakfast. A coffee—or perhaps something a little stronger—in the garden at Blacksmith's Arms. A few peaceful minutes sitting in the ancient crypt at St Mary's Church. Then, after supper, a drive across the moors while the evening light lingers and the roads grow quiet.

These are the moments that we treasure most. Not the grand occasions, but the simple pleasures that remind us to slow down and make the most of these long June days.

How would you spend a summer weekend in Lastingham?
