Visit to Goathland

What an amazing long weekend we’ve had. The real highlight was our trip to Goathland on Sunday.
We’d originally planned to visit Mallyan Spout, but with the snowy conditions we decided instead to explore the village itself. The drive across the moors is beautiful at any time of year, and Goathland certainly doesn’t disappoint. There’s plenty of parking in the pay-and-display car park in the centre of the village, along with lots of lovely places to enjoy a cup of tea, a snack, or something more substantial.
The village is well known as the filming location for Heartbeat (a fact that went completely over our children’s heads), but the railway station is always a firm favourite. With steam trains regularly passing through, and its role as Hogsmeade Station in the Harry Potter films, it’s easy to see why. The snow simply made everything feel even more magical.
We’ll definitely be back to see the waterfall when the weather is a little more reliable.
